Katy's Kloset is an Equipment Lending Library that specializes in assistive devices and medical equipment for children and adults as well. Equipment is loaned out free of charge to families or individuals who need it on a first come, first served basis. Inventory changes weekly, as new donations come in and more equipment is loaned out. We rely on donations of equipment from individuals who no longer need it to add to our inventory and serve those in need. Please bring your donations in any Saturday, or call if you are unable to come during open hours. Please bring equipment in clean condition so it can be made available quickly to go into inventory. Minor repairs can be made when needed.
Hours of Operation
Katy's Kloset is open Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Wednesdays from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, and other times by appointment. Volunteers will make an effort to find a time that will accommodate your needs if you cannot make it to the open hours on Saturdays.

Frequently Asked Questions
What a great service! How did Katy's Kloset get started?
Over 18 years ago, Cheryl Hoyer, who had a child named Katy, helped form the non-profit organization Team Up. As the organizers were deciding on what this new organization would do, Cheryl suggested an equipment lending library that would allow unused equipment to get a second (or third) life. Katy's Kloset started in a small vacant store in Muskego. For several years Katy's Kloset was located in a garage space donated by New Berlin Therapies. Katy's Kloset moved to a larger location on Hickory Street in Pewaukee in 2000. Then in 2009, with the help of an Eagle Scout and a boy scout troop and leaders, we moved to a larger, more accessible location on Industrial Lane in Waukesha. In 2013, increased need for space required a move to 404 Wilmont Drive in Waukesha, once again, with the help of an Eagle Scout and other scouts and friends. We now have more than 6000 sq. feet!
Do you accept donations of non-durable goods such as formula, diapers and other supplies?
Yes we do! Many families do not have insurance coverage to pay for these supplies. If they are not "expired" and have not been opened, we accept all sorts of supplies, including oxygen tubing, feeding pumps, and other such items. The only items we cannot accept are suction machines and other medical equipment that would be life-saving in nature. Any donated items that would not be used by our patrons are donated to over-seas missions, and the medical teams are grateful to have them.
Does Katy's Kloset have equipment for adults?
That's a great question! While Katy's Kloset originally began serving children, the inventory has expanded to include many pieces of adult-sized equipment as well. Adults are welcome to borrow equipment to make their lives easier and increase safety and independence. We often have bath benches, commodes, walkers, wheelchairs and canes available. We get some power wheelchairs and scooters donated occasionally too. All are available at no charge for as long as needed. We do ask for prompt return when the item is no longer needed.
Wow, I can't believe there is no charge to borrow equipment. How do you fund this service?
Thanks for asking! Our main expenses are rent and utilities. All staff are unpaid volunteers, though they feel the rewards are in the experience. We do rely on donations from generous individuals, companies and organizations to keep our "lights on". Sometimes church groups or service clubs will request a presentation from Katy's Kloset and then make a donation to assist with expenses. If you are interested in making a donation, hosting a fundraiser, or if you know a church or service group that would like a presentation please contact us: 262-746-9034 or Teamup@teamupwithfamilies.org
