Allen Temple AME ť Church Ministries

The Ruth McAfee Bookstore opened June 15th, 2008. Mrs. McAfee was a faithful member of AllenTemple Church for eighteen years. Throughout those years she was a leader in the church and the North District. For a number of years she served as the president of the Missionary Society of Allen Temple, where she taught those in the Society what it meant to be a true missionary in the AME church.

Because of her leadership skills, Mrs. McAfee was named Area Chairperson for the Women's Missionary Society in 1996 and served in that position for eight years. Throughout her eight-year tenure as Area Leader, Mrs. McAfee was known for her faithfulness and commitment to her position. She lead, taught, encouraged and was a shining example for all of the members of the Women's Missionary Society in twenty-five churches. No matter what level of the AME church, you could always find Mrs. McAfee in attendance at all meetings. She believed in getting information first hand and staying abreast of all church related matters.

For her strong knowledge of the church, Mrs. McAfee was named President of the Lay organization after leaving her Area Leader position. This is another position that suited Mrs. McAfee because it was a position that required you to be very knowledgeable of the Discipline and Doctrine of the AME Church...and that she is. She served in that position until her health would no longer permit her to do so.

Mrs. McAfee's favorite song is, "This Little Light of Mine", and her favorite Scripture is "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Phillipians 4:13

We the Members of Allen Temple Church thank Mrs. McAffe for the love and faithfullness she has bestowed upon the membership. Therefore we are naming our new Bookstore the Ruth L. McAfee Bookstore, as a lasting memorial in appreciation of what she has done and what she has meant to so many.

*The Ruth McAfee Bookstore opened on June 8th, 2008; a joyful Mrs. McAfee was present for the grand opening and dedication. On June 19, 2008 God called Mrs. McAfee home, to be with Him in heaven. Although we will miss her, we rejoice that she is no longer suffering and we know that all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, will see her again.
